- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a loaf pan
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy
- Add eggs one at a time and mix well
- Stir in milk, lemon juice, and lemon zest
- In another bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, and poppy seeds
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet mixture
- Pour batter into prepared pan and level the top
- Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden and set
- Let cake cool slightly before adding drizzle
Notes
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor
- Do not overmix the batter
- Add extra lemon zest for a stronger citrus taste
